Found one of the kits stiff and cold on the hutch floor this morning, looked dead. I picked it up and noticed a tiny movement..........ive now warmed it up in my bra and its come round, taken it back to mum, held it on the teat for a while for a feed and then rubbed the kit all over her to take off my scent. Fingers crossed kit will be fine.

Just looked back in the nest and all seems well.

Well , there are quite a few little wrigglies in dessies nest, i wont disturb them too much.

I have managed to take a crafty photo while mum was eating. Cant see too much but all is well so far

Dessie is due in about 2 days, i have never bred this type before and she has been in phantom pregnancy before so im not sure if she will have babies this time. She has built a huge nest but she has been doing that for the last fortnight. I will keep you posted

Moth has had 4 kits 3 were dead this morning when i looked in on her . She hadnt built a nest and the plucked fur was all over the nest. I went back to check again a little while ago and the other kit had died too.  I have to put it down to inexperience as most of the maiden does have done this. I shall make sure she is in good health, then breed her up again in a couple of days.

No news yet, she destroyed the nest she started to build yesterday. I think its all a bit confusing for her. I have now put loads of straw in with her, blocked off part of the hutch with cardboard so now if she has them and hasnt built a nest there is plenty of bedding for her to do so.

She will probably shock me, have 12 kits , all healthy and be a brilliant mum.....fingers crossed.. The wait continues......................................

Moth is due tomorrow, you can feel the babies bopping about inside her. She is a little new at nest building, she has made 3 so far and destroyed them all. I gave her a good clean out today and put lots of fresh bedding in and she started to build again. This being her first litter, i wont be suprised if it doesnt go to plan. Most of my maiden doe's (hares) have killed or neglected their first litters..............Im not sure if other breeders have had the same.

Now the waiting begins ..........again.
